PowerGenie app on Huawei phones closes apps when you lock the screen to save power, but in order for the app to work as intended, it needs to remain open in the background at all times.
PowerGenie kills all apps that are not on its whitelist. You cannot add custom apps on their pre-defined whitelist and it cannot be disabled on Android 9. This means there is no other way to fix proper app functionality on Huawei than uninstalling PowerGenie.
Steps to Solve:
- Phone settings > Apps > Settings > Special access > Ignore battery optimisation
- Select allow
- Check that the CamAPS FX app is allowed to work in the background
- Select (CamAPS FX APP) allow for LOCATION
For Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Lite and Huawei P20 Pro in particular:
- Phone settings > Battery > App Launch
- Select allow
- Check that the CamAPS FX app is allowed to work in the background
- Select (CamAPS FX APP) allow for LOCATION
